News From the Front
I think we can all agree that the 2011 reenacting season is off to a great start. So far the battery has been at three events and one memorial service.
Cadiz was a wonderful weekend with great weather. With some of our more active members not being able to make the event, we welcomed back a few of the original members to the field. I’d like to thank those guys for helping us out when we were short handed as well as offer an apology to the members who didn’t get to play. Your spots are always available if you want them.
Uniontown was unfortunately cut short due to threat of severe weather. Despite a tent fire in the early morning hours of Saturday, the event turned out to be great. I have heard from several people who picked up our website and emails and who wanted to thank us for coming out.
Sacramento proved to be cooler this year, and guess what DRY! I want to apologize again for the confusion at registration this year. Apparently their website cut off registration before the actual deadline. We weren’t the only unit to face this issue. Hopefully this can be rectified before next year. |

Camp Life
I think reenactors as a whole get lazy in camp sometimes. A few years ago I walked through neighboring camps and thought “that’s neat” as I looked around at all the display items. This year I walk through some of the camps and think “man that’s a lot of trash.”
It’s a problem we face in our own camps. Join me this year as we strive to make King’s Battery’s camp a place everyone wants to visit and a place where people talk about how great the impression was, and not about how load we snored. |

Website
This is the second year for our website. Finally I am receving some feedback. Most of it comes from spectators who pick up our business cards and brochures in camp. If you would like copies of those, let me know and I’ll get them to you.
Some of the members have been working hard to make www.kingsbattery.com one of the best websites around for information not just on the unit but on the hobby and the history as well. If you have something you would like to contribute, please contact our webmaster at adjutant@kingsbattery.com

The battery would like to congratulate Mallory Winthrop and Jermaine Bollinger on their upcoming wedding.
Also congratulations go out to Cody Sheeks and Alex Whitworth on their completion of their high school careers.
